There is another way to go and that's trying to find a separate bass head and a separate cab. It's one of the considerations I have because my back isn't like it used to be and to be lugging a 80-100 lb bass combo around just isn't going to work for me. So, breaking the total weight up by having separate units is the only way, even if the total adds up to the same.

I mean if the choice was carring a 100 lb combo up stairs or making two trips and carrying 30 lbs and then 70 lbs, I'd rather make the two trips, you know?

Plus with head and cab rigs you can change or upgrade one thing at a time if you want and don't have to dump the whole thing in order to upgrade. Most brands have separate head and speaker cab options. I think the Peavey has some in their MX <?> series.

Just a third option for ya.

Best

About a year ago I had to buy yself an amp, and I managed to get hold of a Peavey TNT 100. It's a great amp, and despite it's relatively low power rating, the 15 inch speaker gives it incredible oomph.

However... It's big... Real big... It takes two people to carry it, and even then it can't be for great distances. I have weekly band practices, and I use it for various other things, and gigs.

However, the weight problem is becoming to much, and its a real problem on the days when theres no car to take me to my drummers house for practices. I've looked into getting wheels for it, but the pavements round here aren't good, and it just gets shaken to pieces.

Basically, I need a new, smaller amp, but it still needs to be powerful. We plug a microphone into it as well as my bass at band practces, so whatever I get needs to be able to handle that (I know, not a perfect set up, but needs must).

So, question is, what can I get for a ridiculously small budget (sort of £100-£150, depending on what I can sell the old one for), that is about 50 watts, but is of a reasonable size/weight? A DI out would be really handy too, for gigging.

Any thoughts?

Or maybe theres another way around this that doesn't involve a new amp (a small PA system is becoming an increasingly likeable idea...)

Anyway, sorry for waffling

Thankyou

Peter
