Uhhh.....
Don't you think she's a tad deep for guitar? It's ridiculous in my opinion...some things just have nothing to do with guitar. She wrote an artice called "In my alone place" which says , "Do you own thing." (somehow she wrote about a page and a half to say that?). Not to slag her, but articles like that are ridiculous because they completley dismiss the kind of creativity that can come out of jam sessions with two or more people. I like "connecting" with other people when I'm trying to come up with a song, and I think it makes you a better musician if you do.
Guitarin' isn't a job, so don't make it one.
'Deep' depends on the pond you're in, I think. Lots of people approach music from different spiritual/meditative planes... some of what Carlos Santana has said about music would make the average person wonder if he's got all his cards (and some of the stuff Sun Ra has said make people start counting their own decks too, because one or the other of us is definately insane)

Where is this "she" stuff coming from?
:? Did I miss something?
Last week I sat down and read every single article on Guitarnoise by Jamie. They made think about the way I practiced, but the articles were almost the same. The article about why you need a guitar teacher kind of made me feel bad about my playing, because I'm trying to teach myself.

What, you mean the average person doesn't talk about giving and receiving spiritual orgasms?
:( Okay now I don't have all my cards.

Vic:
Most people are very surprised when they begin to learn "The Principles of Correct Practice For Guitar". They find out what CORRECT PRACTICE is, and how "The Principles" enable them, finally, to do it. They learn that Correct Practice is the way of practicing that actually makes you better each time you do it!
They also discover how it is very different from what they've been doing when they practice. They are surprised to find out the importance of the MIND in the practice process, and how the powerful use of ATTENTION builds AWARENESS, and also builds the MUSCLE CONTROL necessary for good playing.
I'm sure he/she/it truly believes in his/hers/its method, which is cool. But I don't think it is very cool of him to go around saying his method is vastly superior to what most people know, and is totally different from what we've all been doing until now. Now I might be mistaken, but while reading the articles here, for example, I actually did manage to learn a few, or maybe even a ton, of things. And I never had the urge to suddenly vommit all over the screen while reading David, Nick's or anybody else's stuff here. We all think different about such things, but I just hate his/her/whatever attitude.
Oh, anybody able to provide a link so I know what his sex is?
He does appear in several pictures on his site.

forgot the link.......
I must admit that I have got some benifits from Jamie's articles. I am a sloucher and I was having back problems. Just sitting up straight now and trying to relax has helped. I looked like the leaning tower of Piza when I played. But, you have to do what works for you!
My approach was not working and yeilding pain so I made some changes that have helped. I am willing to listen to others and see if they benifit me. My instructor has been after me to situp and hold my guitar more up and not level, like Jamie suggested. I tried this and it works better for me especially doing scales and runs up the neck. Just been reading that announcement and the forum posts, and I am quite impressed. Still not going to buy her book(s), but she sure wins two Arjen Respect Points...
It seems that the above posting is just detrimental to Jaime in terms of professionalism. forget the books, I'm going back to my teacher
"Contrary to popular belief, Clapton is NOT God. The prospect that he is God probably had a large hand in driving him to drugs and booze. Thanks everyone."
