I have considered giving this a go in the past, but I'm just an acoustic strummy type player. But it looks like you could do a loose DU U DU DU type strum with it, assuming it is in 4/4 According to Guitar Pro, it is in 4/4.

To be honest, I never really bothered to figure out the strum pattern in terms of trying a specific one and/or writing it down. I learned this about 4 months ago by sitting down in the easy-chair and bashing through it for a while until I came up with something that I thought sounded good for a single guitarist. It can be done in any manner you wish. I've seen in concert and in video footage him doing this in many different ways.

What I do mostly is electric with some distortion or overdrive. The only upstrokes I do are just when I need to do two quick strikes, like a DU. I put a lot more emphasis into how hard I strike the strings and which strings I strike. I'm not anal about it in the sense that if I hit an extra string, no big deal. For example, assume just for discussion that the first bar is just 3 strums. The first two are equal and the third I let ring for the fourth beat. Like D-D-D-(let ring) . The first two downstrokes on the EM7 chord I hit the top 3 or 4 strings. The third downstroke I hit the bottom 3 or 4 (maybe even 5) strings. Also, the third strike is done a bit harder than the first two strikes.

The chords are simple except for the Bm, which is a barre chord. For those that can't barre yet, I'm sure someone has a short-cut that will do and will post if needed.

If you're not a Neil Young fan, you may not have heard this tune. Just type in "Neil Young Down By The River" into youtube and you'll find a ton of examples.

This is a great tune to tweek the tempo and energy on a bit if you like. I play it rather hard and even increase it as I'm playing. Also, in between chorus and verses, they normally do a rather lengthy jam live.

It's really a multi-guitar song, but you can do the chords by yourself and still get the vibe. Because this is a two guitar song, you might want to learn either the lead or the rhythm and have a mate learn the other part. I'll enclose the rhythm as I found it on-line and the lead as I exported from Guitar Pro.
