From the album "The Man Comes Around". Superb, for those of you that like Johnny!

Anyway, a nice simple tune, posting's a bit few and far between on here, come on guys and gals, there's hundreds of easy tunes we can put on here!!

Pace of this song is quite slow, but still in the Cash style, so play -

Bass Note , followed by strum DuDuD. NOTE i have put the number of bars you hold the chord for immediately after the chord name. So for E (two) play

Open E string strum DuDuD, A string fretted at 2, DuDuD and so on. This means that on each chord with (two) after it, you alternate the bass. On chords with (one) after it, just play the bass, strum, then move chords. OK? The intro is all on the A string as follows-

(Intro)
E -----------------------------------
B -----------------------------------
G -----------------------------------
D -----------------------------------
A---0---2---3---4-----4---4---3---2---0-----0-----0-----0
E---------------------------------------------0-----0-----0-----0

A (one) E (one) A (two)
I found him by the railroad track this mornin
                 E (one) A (two)
I could see that he was nearly dead
D (two) A (two)
I knelt down beside him and I listened
        E (two) A (two)
Just to hear the words the dyin' fella said
                           E (one) A (two)
He said they let me out of prison out in Frisco
                     E (one) A (two)
For ten long years I paid for what I done
      D (two) A (two)
I was tryin to get back to Louisiana
   E (two) A (two)
To see my Rose and get to know my son

(Chorus)
D (two) A (two)
Give my love to Rose, Please wont you mister
E (two) A (two)
Take her all my money, Tell her buy some pretty clothes
D (two) A (two)
Tell my boy that daddys so proud of him
E (two) A (go into intro)
And don't forget to give my love to Rose .......

(Verse)
A E A
Won't you tell'em I said thanks for waitin' for me
               E A
Tell my boy to help his mom at home
D A
Tell my Rose to try to find another
         E A
Cause it ain't right that she should live alone
                  E A
Mister here's the bag with all my money
                   E A
It won't last them long though it goes
D A
God bless you for findin' me this mornin'
    E A
Now don't forget to give my love to 5th string A-------4---3---2-------"Rose"

There you go, enjoy. If nothing else, this is excellent practice song for playing single notes then strumming, and for practicing bass strum patterns.

See ya!
