I just tried it with D,D,DUD pattern on the verse and it seemed to sound ok to me. I posted the chords for Hey Jude on this forum a few months ago It is currently on page 6. It's a easy version using only a few chords. I hope it helps you and once you get the hang of it I hope you enjoy playing it too.
