This is one of my favorite songs. I found this in a beginners tutor book. I think it gives a very passable version. It sounds great with a capo on fret 3 but it still sounds good without the capo.
It gets us beginners into the Beatles work without too much chord knowledge and is a real boost to confidence. Again its ballad pace allows time to find the next chord change.

Verse 1:

D---------------------A
Hey Jude, don't make it bad,
---------A7----------------------D
Take a sad song and make it better.
---G------------------------------D
Remember to let her into your heart,
----------------A7---------------D
Then you can start to make it better.

Verse 2:

D---------------A7
Hey Jude, don't be afraid,
---------------------------------------D
You were made to go out and get her.
------G---------------------------------D
The minute you let her under your skin,
------------------A7--------------D—D7
Then you begin to make it better.

Bridge 1:

------------------------------G
And any time you feel the pain,
-----D---- Em
Hey Jude refrain,
-------G---------A7---------------- D----------A7
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders.
--------------------------------G
For well you know that it's a fool
------D-------Em
Who plays it cool
----G-----------A7------------D
By making his world a little colder.
-----------D7-----A7
Na na na na na, na na na na

Verse 3:

D--------------------A7
Hey Jude, don't let me down,
------------------------------------------D
You have found her now go and get her.
-------------G---------------------D
Remember to let her into your heart,
------------------A7---------------D-----D7
Then you can start to make it better.

Bridge 2:

-------------------------G
So let it out and let it in,
-----D-----Em
Hey Jude, begin,
--------G-----------A7---------------D----------A7
You're waiting for someone to perform with.
------------------------------------G
And don't you know that it' just you
-----D------------Em
Hey Jude, you'll do,
------G----------------A7----------------D
The movement you need is on your shoulder.
-----------D7-----A7
Na na na na na, na na na na (Yeah)

Verse 4:

D---------------------A
Hey Jude, don't make it bad,
---------A7----------------------D
Take a sad song and make it better.
-------------G-------------------- D
Remember to let her into your heart,
----------------A7----------------D
Then you can start to make it better,

Better, better, better, better, better, oh---

Outro:

D----------------C
Na-------na na, na na na na na na------
G-------------------------D
Na na na na----- Hey Jude (repeat to fade)

Have fun,
Much peace and love.

Chris.
