			   BOB SEGER

She stood there, bright as the sun, on that cal-i-for-nia coast.
He was a mid-west-ern boy on his own.
She looked at him with those soft eyes, so in-no-cent_ and blue.
He saw that face and he lost all control.

She took his hand and she led him along that gold-en beach.
They watched the waves tum-ble o-ver the sand.
They drove for miles and miles_ up those twist-ing turn-ing roads.
High-er and high-er and high-er they climbed.

And those Holly-wood nights
in those hollywood hills:
she waslooking so right,
in her diamonds and frills.

Oh, those big__ cit-y nights
in those high__roll-ing hills_
above all the lights,
she had all__ of her skills.

He'd head-ed west 'cause he felt that a change would do him good.
See some old friends, good for the soul.
She had been born with a face that would let her get her way.
He knew right then he was to far from home.

Night after night and day after day it went on and on.
Then came that morn-ing he woke up alone.
He spent all night staring down at the lights of L.A.,
Wondering if he could ever go home.

And those Holly-wood nights
in those holly-wood hills:
it was looking so right
it was giving him chills.

Oh, those big cit-y nights_
in those high roll-ing hills_
above all the lights
with a passion that kills.
