Love it

whats the strum please

I've been playing it DDUDU quite quickly... which seems to work perfectly... but remember i'm a complete beginner so someone else might be able to advise you better. :D
I've always liked Dolly Parton, she is one hell of a song writer. I dont think I can hit the high note on the last Jolene though. Still I'll give it a go. Thank you Amira.

yes i've got a soft spot for Dolly :D

well i think the way it's tabbed above in AM, C and G is easier to sing... than the way i play it Em (instead of Am) G (instead of C) and D (instead of G) with a capo on the 5th fret which i think is the way Dolly used to play it (?) but i'm not sure about that... i have a little trouble hitting that last Jolene sometimes too... it depends on the time of day and how i'm feeling! If you're familiar with the record you'll remember those "Jolenes" at the end of the song which Dolly sings - which make hitting the Jolenes in the chorus a doddle in comparison!! you could try playing it as its tabbed above without the capo... ?? i'm not sure what that does to the chords exactly but i've tried it and it sounds ok and might suit a male register better... or try it jacks way???

Chorus:
  Am C G Am
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
    G Am
I'm begging of you, please, don't take my man
  Am C G Am
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
G Am
Please, don't take him just because you can

     Am C G Am
Your beauty is beyond compare, with flaming locks of auburn hair,
     G Am
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green
     Am C G Am
Your smile is like a breath of spring, your voice is soft like summer rain
    G Am
And I cannot compete with you, Jolene

He talks about you in his sleep, and there's nothing I can do to keep
From crying, when he calls your name, Jolene
Now I can easily understand how you could easily take my man
But you don't know what he means to me, Jolene

Repeat Chorus

You can have your choice of men, but I could never love again
He's the only one for me, Jolene
I had to have this talk with you, my happiness depends on you
And whatever you decide to do, Jolene

Repeat Chorus and Fade....
