but maybe mr jones isnt as easy as i first thought

Mean strum on the one, two and three with downstrokes. Follow the three with an upstroke on the 3&, and do a final upstroke on the 4%. I am a beginner aswell but what I learned here is the downstrokes are on the numbers and the upstrokes on the "&'s"...this is untill you start to learn more complicated rythms like 1-&-a 2-&-a-3-&-a-4-&-a

I for got to add the pattern will look loke this: DUDUDUDU (1&2&3&4&)...plus you can skip beats to make it sound less robotic...

this is quite difficult for a beginner (like me). Actually the strummin pattern is very similar to the classic "cowboy strum" (how the ydefine on acoustic guitar!)

so it's

1, 2, 3&, 4&

but in every measure (except for the first) you don't play the first beat (so it's syncopated)


so for two meaures it would be

1, 2, 3&, 4& ..., 2, 3&, 4& ecc.

also you have to change the chord not on the first beat of the measure (like in most songs) but on the last of the previous one


so it would be

Am (1,2,3&,4) G (&, ,2, 3&, 4) Am etc.

later i would try it but it is quite difficult to play.

I suggest you first to try to learn the strummin, then to pratice the chord changes
