Now, I just tried it for the first time ever. For the C and F chords I kept my hand in the same position and played it like this.

Not a theory guy, so I don't know what these are called.
C2? F??

Makes for a very quick transition, and sounded great (I'm going on memory). That is what I have been focussing on of late.  2-3-4 version of G and A.  G to make transitions easier, and A to make it a little easier to squish all my fingers on the second fret.
