He is still travelling the country playing with the "Classic Rock All-Stars". Here they are doing a version of In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida. I always laugh at that because I believe they were really singing, "in the garden of eden". Another case of misunderstood lyrics. :D

Anyway, Mike plays some pretty wild guitar on this video, he is very good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzbX_v0umpI

I don't think I've ever heard this before, and I've certainly never heard of the band, so I had a peek at the youtube video - and gave it another couple of plays. I like it! I was wondering what it was all about - some band of revolutionaries, maybe? So I googled "73 men" and found out....it was a spur-of-the-moment thing. They needed a song urgently, so the singer/guitarist was looking round for inspiration....and remembered there were 73 keys on his Fender Rhodes keyboard!

I'll give this one a try - cool song. See, you do learn something new every day here!

Thanks Wes,

:D :D :D

Vic

Here's an old song that is very easy to play, but it's got some great guitar in it, Ride Captain Ride by Blues Image.

Here's the original video from 1970. It has the great solo in the middle, however it leaves out the great solo at the end.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2IWIwAYDNU&feature=related

Here's another version that has part of the ending solo. I am still looking for a video with the complete end solo, awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAx9h_R23PQ&feature=related

If you can find the complete version, the end solo alone makes this song worth learning. Anyway, here are the simple chords for this song.

Ride Captain Ride

Intro- D C D C
(D)Seventy-three men sailed up
From the (E)San Francisco Bay, E F F# G
(G)Rolled off of their ship
And here's what they (D)had to say.

"We're callin' everyone to ride along
To another shore,
We can laugh our lives away
and be free once more."

But no one heard them callin',
No one came at all,
'Cause they were too busy watchin'
Those old raindrops fall.

As a storm was blowin'
Out on the peaceful sea,
Seventy-three men sailed off
To history.

(D)Ride, captain ride
Upon your (A)mystery ship,
Be a(C)mazed at the friends
You have here (D)on your trip.

Ride captain ride
Upon your mystery ship,
On your way to a world
That others might have missed. D F# G G# A

(Instrumental) (D) (Bb) (D) (Bb) A

Seventy-three men sailed up
From the San Francisco Bay,
Got off their ship
And here's what they had to say.

"We're callin' everyone to ride along
To another shore,
We can laugh our lives away
And be free once more."

Ride, captain ride
Upon your mystery ship,
Be amazed at the friends
You have here on your trip.

Ride, captain ride
Upon your mystery ship,
On your way to a world
That others might have missed.

Ride, captain ride
Upon your mystery ship,
Be amazed at the friends
You have here on your trip.
