Still mindful of keeping thing easy, here's another to go with my previous offering "Sweet Georgia Brown" from The Beatles Hamburg recordings with Tony Sheridan. The song was original recorded by Dion and was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stroller.

This is really easy and a good one for practicing strumming straight twelve bar blues chord patterns and if you've got mates jamming with you they can do the backing vocals. Could be great fun. I've always loved this song.

Intro: E / / / 2 / /

Verse 1:

(E)I said I love a girl and-a Ruby is her name
Backing vocals:(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

(E)This girl doesn't love me but I love her just the same
Backing vocals:(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

(E)Wo oh oh, (A)Ruby, Ruby, how I want you

(E) Like a ghost I'm-a gonna haunt you

(B7)Ruby, Ruby, (A)Ruby, won't you be (E)mine?
Backing vocals:(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

Sometime

Verse 2:

(E)Well, each time I see you, baby, my heart cries
Backing vocals:(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

(E)I tell you, I'm gonna steal you away from all those guys
Backing vocals:(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

(E)Wo oh oh, (A)From the happy day I met you

(E)I made up my mind that I was gonna get you

(B7)Ruby, Ruby, (A)Ruby, won't you be (E)mine?
Backing Vocal:(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

Sometime

Interlude: (same chord pattern as verses):

(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)
(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)
(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)
(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)
Hey hey, hey hey
(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

Verse 3:

(E)Now I love this girl, I said Ruby is her name
Backing Vocals:(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

(E)When this girl looks at me she just sets my soul aflame
Backing Vocals:(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

(E)I've got some (A)hugs and-a kisses too, yeah

(E)I'm gonna give them all to you, now

(B7)Ruby, Ruby, (A)Ruby when will you be (E)mine?
Backing Vocals:(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

(E)Gonna catch you sometime

Interlude (same chord pattern as verses):

(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)
(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)
(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)
(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)
Hey hey, hey hey
(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)

Outro:

(A)-listen, listen, listen, now
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, won't you be mine?
(Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, baby)------fade out

And that all there is to it, enjoy!

Chris
