I'm kinda struggling with his strummingpattern... you couldn't tell me please?

The key is getting his muting sound down...in this one you'll play the Am with 2 down strokes then mute all the strings with your left hand (by just gently resting your hand on top of them and not pressing against the frets) and hit the muted strings with one more down stroke. Then switch to the Am7 and do the same thing....continue with that progression for the verses.

BTW...just because you're only strumming the strings on the down stroke doesn't mean the upstroke isn't important. You want to keep a smooth rhythmic motion with your right (strumming) hand.....DOWN, up, DOWN, up. Hope that helps.

OK, after hours of frustratiion, I'm hoping someone can help me with this one.

I'm having a very difficult time with the C and C7 in the verse progression. I've tried playing it using my index finger to barre at the 3rd fret, and my middle, ring, and pinkie fingers to fret the B, G, and D strings at the 5th. And, I can hit that (sometimes). But I can't, for the life of me, raise my ring finger from the G string to get the C7.

Any suggestions?

You're fingering it right. The almost too obvious answer is to just keep practicing it. But I know you don't really need to hear that so in all honest, just play the C. No one is going to really notice. I can do the switch from C to C7, but Im really too lazy to do that. No one has ever commented on that to me, and my friend who is a huge Jack fan hasn't noticed. He also plays guitar so I expected him to catch me.

If you want to play it the "right" way though, just practice. Form the chord and keep lifting your ring finger until it just becomes habit. It does take a while to learn.
