i.e. both "Knocking or heavens' door" and "Blowin in the wind" are based upon sixtheen notes which are not the most easy thing to play for a beginners. In any case if you can play 16s notes try patterns like

D Ddu D ddu for each measure

or dd ddu dd ddu


He also uses several folk-type strums like

D/du/udu (1,2and, and, 4and)
D/du/uD(1,2and,and,4)

For example, does anyone know the strumming patterns to either "To Ramona" and/or "It Ain't Me, Babe"? Those are both relatively easy songs with easy transitions.
