Ok, I'm dragging this one up, because I play it a bit different (read:wrong). I don't have a great ear, and I thought it was strange that I always seem to come up a half step off of what everyone else does. Most tab sites I saw this at started on an 'a', but I started it on 'g#'. I think my ear is just out of whack...anyway, here is how I have been playing it:

E-------------------------------
B-------4----1--------------4--
G--1--------------1----3-------
D-------------------------------
A-------------------------------
E-------------------------------

I just leave my pointer finger on the 2nd and 3rd strings, first fret. I just started going through the song tonight, so that's all I have at the moment - just thought it was odd that I always seem to be a half step off in one direction. Guess the only plus of this way is you can slide it all over the fret board easily...if your into that sort of thing :)

-Jon

Just so happens I learned it in the Key of A, but a slightly different version than Larsko's. (Not a better version, just different.) Thought I would go ahead and post it to expand the library of alternatives.

Gmaj7: xx5432

Basic Verse Strum: D D DU U (heavy on the bass notes to get the drone sound)

Rather than ending with the repetitive "my baby don't care" (which I can't sing) . . . I chose to end the song by playing the Intro one-and-a-half times ending on an A chord.

Ticket To Ride - The Beatles
        Verse Strum: D D DU U (A-Bm-E)

Intro: (play twice... let all notes ring):

|--------2-----0-----------2-----0-----------
|--2--------2--------2--------2--------------
|--------------------------------------------
|--------------------------------------------
|--------------------------------------------

Verse 1
    A
I think I'm gonna be sad,
    A
I think it's today, yeah.
     A
The girl that's driving me mad
           Bm E
is going a-way.

Chorus

F#m D(U)
She's got a ticket to ride.
F#m Gmaj7
She's got a ticket to ri-i-ide.
F#m E
She's got a ticket to ride. . .
               A
and she don't care.
(Last note of A chord is 1st note of Intro Riff)

Verse 2
      A
She said that living with me,
      A
was bringing her down yeah.
     A
For she would never be free
             Bm E
when I was a-round.

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:

   D
I don't know why she's ridin' so high. . .
D
she ought to think twice,
D E
she ought to do right by me.
    D D D/D7/D
Be-fore she gets to saying goodbye. . .
D/7
she ought to think twice,
D E
she ought to do right by me.
