While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Beatles

My apologies to the great Wes Inman who's already done an excellent tab of this.....

BUT....A friend of mine from the Tuesday Night Acoustic Club and I fancied
doing a version of this in the pub, me on rhythm, Stu playing slide... we've
found we have very similar tastes in music, like a lot of the same songs, &
this is on both our "favourites" list.....

PLaying Wes's chords works fine....hell you can play along to the CD with
them...but you can also get pretty close with these, they're just a wee bit
simplified....

So here goes....

INTRO.....

Am/G/D/F/Am/G/C/E/Esus4/E

played like this....

Am G D F
1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3
dud d d u d dud d d u d dud d d u d dud d d u d

Am G C E Esus4 E
1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3
dud d d u d dud d d u d dud d d u d dud d d d d

VERSE.....

The word "I" coincides with the last down stroke of the intro....

E Am G D F
3 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3 +
  d d d u d u d d d u d u d d d u d u d d d u d u
I look at you all, see the love there that's sleeping,

F Am G C E Esus4 E
+1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3+ 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3
d d d d u d d d d u d d d d u d d u d u d
While my gui tar gently weeps....

The next two lines follow exactly the same rhythmic pattern....

  Am G D
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping,
Am G C E/Esus4/E
While my guitar gently weeps....

Now this is where it gets slightly more complicated.....
Normally for the E/Esus4/E changes, you'd play the E in the standard
manner and play the "add-on" for the Esus4 with your pinkie...on this
occasion, a little forward thinking is required to facilitate the change
to an Amajor barre chord at the fifth fret....

So for the first E, you can play it as normal, with your 1st finger on
the G string at the 1st fret, 2nd finger on the A string at the 2nd fret
and 3rd finger on the D string at the 2nd fret...for the Esus4, simply
addd your pinky on the G string at the 2nd fret....then....when you
change back to the E, just before going into the chorus, use your 2nd,
3rd and 4th fingers to play the E..... then slide the whole shape up,
putting a barre on at the 5th fret....now we're ready for the chorus...

CHORUS....

A C#m F#m C#m
1 + 2 + 3 + 1+2+3+1 +2+ 3 + 1 + 2+3+
d d d u d dddud dd dud d d dud
I don't know why, nobody told you,

Bm7 E /Esus4/E /Esus4/E
1 + 2 + 3+1 +2 +3 + duu/du u/duu/d /u
d d d u d d d du d
    How to unfold, your love,

(The next 2 lines follow exactly the same pattern...

A C#m F#m C#m
I don't know how, someone controlled you,
Bm7 E/Esus4/E/Esus4/E
They bought and sold you,

2ND VERSE...same pattern as first...

  Am G D F
I look at the world, and I notice it's turning,
Am C E Esus4/E
While my guitar gently weeps,
     Am G D F
With every mistake, we must surely be learning,
Am C E Esus4/E
Still my guitar gently weeps,

2ND CHORUS...same pattern as first...

A C#m F#m C#m
I don't know how, you were diverted,
Bm7 E/Esus4/E/Esus4/E
You were perverted too,
A C#m F#m C#m
I don't know how, you were inverted,
A E/Esus4/E/Esus4/E
No-one alerted you,

That's pretty much it....the solo is played over the same chords as
the verses, and there's a bit of ad-libbing near the end using the
same chords again....

Still finding it bloody difficult to transcribe strumming patterns...
you wouldn't believe how long it's taken to write this down!!! - but
this is the way we'll be doing it in the pub tomorrow night...I'll let
you all know how we get on!!!!

Vic.
