As for playing through a mic into the amp:-

Can I connect a standard mic through the passive input 1/4" jack socket? There are no direct mic input connectors on the amp. Is that what you mean?

I am using a Digitech Multi Chorus and I really enjoy it. I use it alot when I am playing rhythm on an acoustical sounding piece.

I second the Fish n Chips.

I dont have alot of experience with drum machines.

i think chorus is also the way to go as well as a nice Danelectro Fish&chips EQ.
sorry, i'm not well versed on chorus pedals as my fishman has a built in chorus effect but i would highly recommend getting a nice one. Danelectro makes one that seemed affordable.

As far as drum effects go i would probably route that thru another PA or amp.

I've just been lucky enough to get a beautiful Carlsbro Sherwood 30 Acoustic Amp for Christmas from Trish my wife. Well I dropped lots of heavy hints, never thought she'd get it for me though.

I know diddly squat about amps and rig setups. At the moment I play my beloved Epiphone Gibson six string acoustic through the amp hooked up via a soundhole pickup, "great tone, bass and reverb so far".
The amp also has effects line in and out jack sockets. What's the best value for money effects unit I can feed in for chorus and maybe drum rythum effects?

Bare in mind I don't want anything too complicated for home use.
