The one thing I have heard that was desireable is that a component in the old crybaby's (I have an old Thomas Corp which is very sweet) uses what is coined (no pun intended here) a "stack of dimes" becasue that is what it looks like. From what I understand is that you get a better tone from this component as opposed to the newer pedals.

I had my vox modded by Garmopat, an amazing voicing. He has reviews on Harmony Central under "effects". EDIT: I know there is a Jimi Hendrix Crybaby sold by Dunlop, and there's the Jimi Hendrix Experience by Digitech.
