Just push the sliders around and listen.

Once just for fun I pushed the left slider all the way up, the next slider all the way down, the next all the way up, the next all the way down. I went across all 7 bands going up, then down.

I call this setting Up and Down. :D

Anyway, I tried this with a little overdrive and it sounded almost exactly like many ZZ Top tones, really nice (I am a big fan of ZZ Top).

As for the newer Dano pedals, I do not have any experience with them. I own some of the older, large metal pedals. They are heavy. The Daddy-O is excellent, the Fab Tone is very good too for Metal type tones. And I own many of the older mini pedals like the Fish and Chips. But I do not own any of the very new $15 pedals. But I have read many reviews and folks seem to like them very much. Danelectro makes good pedals, and not one of mine has ever broken. I cannot say that for many other more famous and expensive brands I've owned.

Wes,

I picked up a Fish and Chips along with a few of the FAB series pedals. I figured that they were cheap enough ($15/each) and the reviews were decent enough that this would be a good way to play with some effects. If they turn out to be crap well then at the least I can gut them and use them as a box for a homebrew.

I haven't had a chance to play with them much yet other than the EQ and it's pretty interesting in the effect you can get from just that. The "BBQ" setting from the back of the package gives an "All Along the Watchtower" (Hendrix) rhythm guitar sound. Pretty cool.

Thanks.

I own about 10 Dano pedals, have owned some for nearly 10 years now, and every single one of them works as good as the day I got it. I have not had one single problem with any of them. I have owned many other far more expensive pedals that have broke on me, but ALL my Danos are still going strong.

If I had to say anything negative about Dano pedals, is that some are really small size. This is great on a pedalboard, but it can be a little hard stepping on the switches. But I've never missed turning one on or off when I wanted to.
