I'm new to fingerstyle and seem to have taken a huge liking to celtic music (what's not to like).

I've just learned to play a small piece that was in one of our guitar mags, here in the UK. Although it's really simple, it's just so beatiful.

I've since been trawling the 'net to find other simple celtic tunes to learn... Why didn't I think of checking here first? :roll: :lol: Hi Honeytone,

Great to hear you've taken to celtic music on guitar...BTW, my next lesson will be another fingerstyle arrangement of "The Southwind," a very well know tune that I often play with "Buachaill on Eirne."

Just curious which UK guitar mag had the piece you learned, and what the name of the tune was...we get a lot of the UK guitar magazines here, but I haven't popped by the bookstore for a few weeks.

Doug, thank you for such a beautiful peace. If this piece doesn't get someone interested in finger style guitar not sure what would. Easy and fun to play. Relaxing after a stressful day.

You can definately hear the bagpipes as well as see lush rolling hills of green when playing this one.

Maybe I should have done a slower version for the mp3 (which I considered). Just a thought...would you prefer a slow version or a performance speed version for the mp3 with the lessons? I just wanted to point out, to anyone playing along with a metronome, be sure to set it to 3/4 time! I had mine in 4/4 and couldn't figure out why my timing was so off. Of course, the time signature is right there in the tab, and I can usually figure out the rhythmic notation, but this time ... :oops:

Oh, by the way, the song takes on a somewhat different character if you slow down the tempo, say to around 90bpm. Much more melancholy.
