hey

haven't posted anything in this forum(except the greatest songwriter thing) yet. don't know why. but there are so many songs which don't fit in sunday songwriters...and I wanna know what someone else thinks about them;) so here is one I wrote last tuesday:

Blindfold me

You used to confide to me
I was your safety pin,
Connection to the present

Nowadays it occurs to me
The threat was too thin,
Too weak to keep you within shelter zone

Can't bear to record you slither, blindfold me
Blindfolded I can endure

Now I carry with me
Some of those pins
Drug pain always available

It would be easy
To take advantage of me
Cornered by endless time-lapses of your fall

Can't bear to witness you slither, blindfold me
Blindfolded I can endure

Oh it is wrong
I have to see
Oh it aches
But I have to see
Oh I love you
That's why it hurts

Now I know I have to watch you fall
Now I know I have to memorize the details of your pain
Now I know I have to, to remember you when
The day's light is growing dim

As long as the stars shine in your virtual eyes
Trapped in canvas as I am trapped in time
As long as those stars shine in your virtual eyes
You'll be the dream of my sleepless nights

it was inspired by something conor oberst said in the interview on the "fevers&mirrors"record, that he used to carry a safety pin around to hurt himself to draw people's attention to himself but then again he doesn't like attention:)
I've been wanting to use 'safety pin' in a song ever since I heard that(which was last year around christmas).

please tell me what you think.
bluenightangel
