This is a collaboration between Barnabus Rock and myself. In early January Trev asked me to read over some lyrics that he had written as a tribute to James Brown, I was so impressed that I aggreed to edit them a liitle bit and put some music to them and bring them to life. The song is a blues song, and although James Brown was essentially Soul, he was not averse to the odd bit of blues. The song was recorded as a collaboration between myself and my 2 sons, Daniel on the piano and Rowan on the electric lead guitar, Im pretty proud how they got into what was basically a jam session. Anyway you can hear it here.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=476331&songID=4970096

I Cried
© 2007 Copyright Hilcher / Brady All rights reserved.

Well I heard the news
It was on Christmas night
I heard the news
Old Jimmy Brown just died
When I heard that news
The tears welled up inside
And I cried

<musical bridge>

When they laid his body down
Georgia didn't make a sound
When they laid his body down
There was sadness all around
When they laid it down we said
Farewell Mr. Jimmy Brown
And I cried

I cried the day I heard
How he drove off in that car
I cried the day I heard
How he stashed all those funny cigars
I Cry today
Cos the godfather wont be around no more

<musical bridge>

Well I heard the news
It was on Christmas night
I heard the news
Old Jimmy Brown just died
When I heard that news
The tears welled up inside
And I cried
