I don't think that line is the problem, it's the absence of anything like it at the beginning of the song, and the hands melting thing gives a really wonderful image, so I wouldn't change it

it's really hard to change the beginning of a song rather than the middle or end of it, but maybe a description of the streets would give a foothold
