So there's that, but there's also the fact the lyric writing and music writting are very different skills coming from completely different parts of the brain. So even if you don't have the skill to attach music to all of your songs, your still able to develop your lyrical skills. Which in todays music world, I believe, are highly under-refined in a lot of bands. "All I've got, All I've got is insane!!!" WTF?!?

But I do agree that people should at least be Trying to put music to their lyrics. It just takes longer for some of us.

As for major, minor, fast or slow. It's easy to tell from the lyrics. Take Vic's 'Screw The Neighbours' it doesn't scream slow acoustic ballad to me. And a lot of times, I post lyrics and get replies like "I'm hearing power chords with distortion."
p.s. I know that I recently did just what im saying not to do, but I did put at the top that it was not a song yet just let me know what you think of the writing. So ha. I'm pretty sure everyone posts lyrics and does that. It's just not everyone says it.
