On The Wall

There he sits, man of his own making
All that he's offered has been taken
And yet he sits all alone

If he talks, there's no one to listen
No matter what the wisdom to be glistened
The people pass him by

And see him, Fridays alone
Footy on the tube
And see him, balancing it all
With nothing at all to lose

A crowded office on Monday morning
And none of them there saw all the warning
To busy ignoring the man

A casual word about the footy ignored
By a man who works for the award
Of the money and his friends

And all it would take
Is someone to say ‘hey,'
To see him totter back, balancing again
To see out another day

And see him, Fridays alone
Footy on the tube
And see him, balancing it all
With nothing to lose

Another day and there's something missing
Someone asks and then there's the reminiscing
Of a man they never knew

And see him…
