Believe me there are days when the neighbors might be complaining because I need to feel that amp booming. But you need to be respectful of those you live with (parents, spouses, kids, pets, etc.). Not everyone wants to hear you running through that same song/scale/riff for the 27th time while your practicing at night :D

I got yelled at for the last two guitars I bought when I had the money. I had to keep my black Ibanez in the guitar case for a long time untill I felt brave enough to tell my mom I bought another guitar. :oops: Everything I buy in my family seems to be a waste of money to them. If you are a serious guitarist, then you need the tools of your trade. Nobody would criticize an auto mechanic for buying quality tools, so why should a guitarist be criticized for trying to buy the best guitar and amp he/she could afford??

You may or not make it big in music. But even if you decide to play bar gigs, or perform with your church group, you want the best sounds you can get. So, you need good gear.

I was pretty lucky as a teen when myself and younger brother began to play. My Dad was a huge music lover, I think he really respected musicians, and may have secretly wanted to be one himself. He was pretty cool about letting us practice as long as it wasn't too loud.

You might look at getting an attenuator for your new tube amp. Then you can really crank it into saturation where it will sound great, but keep the volume very low.

Just show respect. When your parents are around, keep the volume down low.
