Hey crank, check your local pawn shops, I have seen several Ovations in the ones here lately for under $200 in fair-good condition. I just have never been able to get used to that rounded back on them I had an Ovation as my primary choice until I had the chance to play one. Sounded pretty good, but I too didn't really like the back. I play sitting most of the time and it wasn't very comfortable and I had to keep adjusting it. So I scratched it off the list. Looked like it could survive a bomb blast though.

It says 'spruce top' -- not solid spruce top. The rule of thumb is "If it doesn't say solid, it isn't." Yeah, I know. I'm looking for a good sturdy guitar for travel and such but that I can also use for recording. I didn't figure a solid top would hold up well going camping/beach/etc. so I was avoiding them. Basically I'm looking for a general use acoustic that can take some abuse with the bonus of being able to plug in when needed. The Washburn seemed like the best for that purpose. They get rave reviews as well.

With all that said though, and not to totally hijack this thread (too late, I know), any links to other options/opinions? I've looked at some Ibanez's, Ovation's, Takamine's, Epiphone's, Kona's, and Yamaha's all of which were close to the $300 price point. I kept coming back to the Washburn though.

+1 on all of Greg's points.

I'll again emphasize that Yamahas and Ibanezi in the < $300 range can be stunning, considering the price. Catch one on sale or gently used and you can get yourself a hell of a guitar for not much coin.

I bought a Takamine with a $600 list price with partially working electronics for less than $300... just use the noggin and you'll come out smelling like roses.

Not that I'm trying to change your mind (really). I like the Washburn because it also comes with a HSC which is important to me. I know you didn't ask for options, but I thought I'd at least show you another option around that price.

If you want the best sounding, new acoustic for that amount of money, forget the fancy inlays and on-board electronics. At this price, at the latter are undoubtedly a fairly low-cost bridge piezo, with a pretty mediocre performance pre-amp. Put all that $$$ into a non-pickup guitar, and later, when you have some more money, buy a good soundhole pickup.

I realize you guys are big fans of Agile, but Ibanez (Artwood line) and Yamaha make some very good sounding solid top flattops (non-electro) in that price range, that are very hard to beat for performance/$$ Get one of those, add a Fishman sound hole pup later and I'd be willing to bet you'd be lightyears ahead of this model.

I did see that when I was looking at the tele's...It is what I am looking for in my next acoustic..fullbodied with a cutaway and preamp...

But I think the tele comes first for me...
