You're welcome, Jim! It's actually my pleasure to be part of this community and to write these lessons and I'm hoping that I've finally gotten my personal teaching schedule to a point where I can do it on a more regular basis than of late. "Late" being the past couple of years!

Just a note - because of my reading of the Guitar Noise membership, it's just seemed prudent to be writing these lessons in the "single guitar arrangement" style. But, if there's a call for it, I can certainly write up some lessons on some more specific and less one-guitar types of lessons. I'm trying like crazy to finish up a lesson I promised Rahul ages ago on the various lead guitar licks in Take Me Home Country Roads, which I'm hoping will be done sometime before the end of June.

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled thread...

Peace

Learn & Master Guitar: http://www.learnandmasterguitar.com/

I bought this course and am using it to teach my two sons to play guitar. It is quite good and resembles traditional in-person lessons. The reviews for it are good. It will get you started and last about a year (or more).

2. Metal Method: http://www.metalmethod.com/

This is also an excellent course, geared more towards hard rock & metal. It has been around for over 20 years - I first learned to play using their first version of the course in the early 1980s.

I would say that you consider buying both, if the cost is not too much. They will both teach you from an absolute beginner to a very good intermediate level. But, their emphasis is somewhat different. Learn & Master Guitar teaches you how to read standard notation and Metal Method is more in TAB. If you go through both at the same time, you will be at a level of skill that is higher than a lot of guitarists who are actually gigging.
