  I have been working with putting <I>all</I> my fingers down, all touching each other for support and leverage. Bend w/pinky.<br>So the ring finger HAS TO scrunch up against the pinky....<br><br>ADVANTAGE:  A very powerful, in control bend/vibrato,  the more I do it the stronger it gets.<br><br>DISADVANTAGE:   Hard to reach back for a note with Index finger on lower frets. (However, on higher frets 12&amp;up, fingers seem to fall right in place)<br><br>Possible resolution:   Work on separating the Index from other fingers.<br><br><br>See now that I said it, I <I>have</I> to work on this!! :D <br><br><br><br>Pat]]></content:encoded>

                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[I just tried a few different ways, and the only way I could do it comfortable (and sucessfuly) was to use my pinky to hold the note fretted, and use my ring finger (at the 7th fret) to do the "heavy lifting" part of the bend. <br>I could do a half bend with my pinky alone, but not the full.<br><br>When I tried using my ring finger on the 8th fret, I did a nasty sounding pull-off as I raced back to the 5th fret on the high e. :?]]></content:encoded>

For years I played acoustic guitar but I would play it like electric bending strings. If you really want to develop bending strength practice on an acoustic guitar often. When you go back to electric the strings will feel like rubber bands.  8)]]></content:encoded>
