None of the shops near me stock them either. Which is no surprise, they are completely useless - they never stock anything that I want to try out.

Thanks for those other suggestions, I'll check 'em out. Don't worry, I wouldn't actually order a guitar over the net! It's just like convenient window shopping that's all!!!

That means it's up to you to get the best you can. Play as many as humanly possible, really get an idea of what's out there, play them both acoustically and amplified, try all their settings, play each of them through a variety of amps, so you really know the tonal characteristics of the guitar.

If there's a way you can try the cheaper ones then do it. But...you might be dissapointed.
I tried the cheaper ones, and it was like playing a PRS rip off.
If you want a good PRS. You're going to have to spend some money.
BUT!!
Don't get me wrong. my first guitar was a Peavey Prediator which cost somewhere around $350.00
And I put new pickups, and all that junk in it, and wore the neck in.
This is just my opinion.

I was drifting around online guitar shops at lunch time today, and started looking at PRSs. Lovely, but not such nice prices.

Then I noticed a few for about £400. I assume these are the equivalent of Squiers and Epiphones etc.

Anyone got any experience with them? Any good? I'm sort of vaguely thinking about a new guitar (one with a neck humbucker) for around that price, and if they are even near the quality of their more illustrious cousins, they might be worth considering.

I read the reviews on Harmony Central, but as always there were just as many people saying they were crap as saying they were great.

Any comments would be much appreciated.
