Yeah, I made such a random discovery with my Agile AS-820 semihollowbody with P-90s and Electar Tube 10 amp. Plugged straight in. Put it on the neck pickup (which is really hot and which I've adjusted just a little too close to the strings), dimed all the knobs and let 'er rip. Found the Fat Possum tone. (Fat Possum records the "raw," relatively unknown real Mississippi blues players, like Charles Caldwell and Johnny Farmer. Great stuff!) Nasty snarling buzzsaw sound with LOOOONG sustain, and when the growling notes fade out, if the guitar's close to the amp it fades smoothly into a feedback howl! Way cool!

So instead I leave the gain on 10 and turn the volume knobs on my SG to about 1 and tone at 0. Captures his sound real good.
And then I play The Song Remains the Same :)

I have a fun experience to share.

I was playing around with my Ibanez and the latest additions to my pedal collection (phase 90 and boss distortion) and I stumbled across a tone that was new to me and I really liked. I wanted to share this because I was like "wow this sounds really cool" and it made me wanna keep jamming out simple blues scales. In my mind, it sounded like some lonely guitar player in a big empty hall, and you're hearing the music through a wall. Kinda muffled but I thought it was cool. If anyone wants to try it, i used my neck humbucker through a Phase 90 (with the knob turned as low as it goes) the distortion with tone set at 0 and distortion knob at about 1/4 and full reverb.

So, has anyone had a similar "new" discovery that made them wanna just make random noise for an hour and call it music? please share!
