I third the "Blues You Can Use" books. John even has a decent forum for discussion on his books for when you might need help or support. Albeit, it is a little quiet there compared to here.

I fourth Blues You Can Use. Somewhere around here is a recent thread discussing it in more detail.

I agree on blues you can use, definetly has a lot of licks in the song examples and scales in the lessons.

I picked up "Blues You can Use" recently also, seems really quite good. The only caveat is that it assummes some basic knowledge of guitar. If you've been playing for a little while, it should be fine.

There's a good DVD set that complements the book.

Back when I shared a house with a mate who was equally obsessed, and we were invaded by the rest of 'the lads' at least twice a week who were also equally obsessed, we used to watch it a few times a week. For months. Literally. Every time we drove anywhere we had the soundtrack on. It was a bit nuts really :)
