The second one is really interesting. It's an ES-335 style body, with a peghead in Gibson's "book" shape. To me that just screams early 1970s Japanese copy. Gibson sued Ibanez (and several other manufacturers) over the use of their peghead shape in the late 1970s, so I'm guessing this guitar predates those suits and is about 45 years old.

Three things make the design unique: first, I've never seen controls quite like those on an ES-335 copy. Four knobs and a toggle mounted directly to the body is what Gibson, and all of the clones I'm familiar with, use. Second, it appears you've got single coils, where ES-335 clones all use humbuckers. The third thing is the type of tuners... most guitars of this body design copy Gibson's use of pearlized tuner buttons, and these look like plain nickel.

I haven't been able to find anything quite like it in my searches so far, but I'll keep digging.

I think you are on track. Those pickups look REAL close to the Teisco single coil pickups. The rest doesnt look like one, but mabe it was a diferent branch of the company that made copys, or a diferent company that used Teisco pickups in the guitars they made.

well the first bit is what i thought, also it does say made in japan on the head stock on the back silver plate it doesn't say anything, when i was looking at other squires on there website and they only say strat by fender the only one i can find on there site that is similar is the affinity series start but that's all it says on the head-stock, and with mine its not like that its different from the one on there website so i thought custom? but then i am not really a 100% guitar smart. just wanted to know if either of them are actually worth anything because my initial reaction to the strat was that it wasn't but when i tried looking it up i couldn't find the same one! thank you
