                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[How Django might have played it?<br><br>Well...interesting to know. But I'll probably play it a lot different- not due to fingering preferences. Due to talent, or relative lack thereof.<br><br>I feel like this thread has two principle questions- <br><br>Is it important to use the standard fingering?<br><br>FOr me, it's not.  Most of what I play, I play with several different fingerings, according to where it's at, what comes before, what comes after, or sometimes just impulse and instinct. It's important to be able to use the standard fingerings, though- one more tool in the tool box.<br><br>Do you have to use your pinky?<br><br>Well...Clapton didn't use his much in the early years.<br><br>But...any one of his fingers is worth two of mine. I NEED the pinky. For a lot of stuff. It isn't easy to get it working like a regular finger, but it's coming along. And on the stuff I use it in, I have more reach, more range, and more options. I had to ask "uh, what?" because whatever it was seemed pretty mundane. I was bending with my pinkie (unaided by ring finger). guess the underappreciated little guy's been doing more than I thought.]]></content:encoded>

                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[I use my pinky alot too, I like the sound of an E doubling the G# on the 1st string, I have small hands, when you look at me playing that it looks like a hell of a stretch, but it works, I also like to play A min/maj 7 hitting that same G# in the 1st string.<br><br>when Im playing lead I also use the pinky alot for slides and such, and also for pull offs, what I cant use it for yet is for tapping, but Ill get it into that shape soon.<br><br>Also there is a certain voicing of Am9 that I just love that ends up being like this :<br><br><br>e<br>B<br>G<br>D<br>A<br>E<br><br>That stretch to B on the G string can be really hard sometimes!, but I just love how it sounds :D]]></content:encoded>
