During regular fingerstyle, I've always used thumb (p) + three, and so hybrid was difficult at first. Eventually, I sorta learned to just let my fingers "figure it out" based upon which happen to be available.]]></content:encoded>

If a piece requires a fourth finger, I use fingerpicking rather than hybrid picking - since the little finger is so much shorter than the others, it's very difficult to get consistent tone and volume from it.]]></content:encoded>
