Well my neck that I orderd from Warmoth came in today. Nice neck. The specs are quartersawn maple, rosewood finger, jumbo frets, cut for a FR locking nut, neck width is 1 11/16, turners were drilled for my planet wave auto trim.

I had to drill a few holes, but it when on well. Took a good while of adjusting to make it right. Sounds good and plays wonderful. The only two original parts left on the guitar are the pick gaurd and the body.

Gonna be a tough decision on which guitar to play now. I just bought a Epi LP and man does that axe kick some major rear end.

Did you move the Squier sticker onto the new neck?

When you finish swapping the body and pickguard, it'll be the same guitar, only different.

I was wondering about that when reading your Epi post a bit ago. I hope that gets resolved once and for all. Keep us posted, eh?

I checked in with the shop last week. They built me a new guitar. The one they think I had is no longer in production, hence the new one has to made in the custom shop. The guitar is done except for the finish which they claim is no longer available and so they are in search of someone that does it.

Funny thing is. This is a current production line axe. They think it's a archtop flame maple cap mohagany axe. They screwed up on the warranty tag and put the wrong model down.

So for all the crap I had to go through, let them build me a custom shop.

How come this thread was moved? I thought it was about bad gas being satisfied

I mean if you want I will post pics and how the install went. How to setup the neck, bridge and nut after the swap. I had no question to ask on setup. However if someone has done a fret level and dressing speak up. Probably just going to take it to my tech for that. Plays good and no dead notes. I have a wee bit of low E buzz but I set my stuff up with .005 relief and just under 4/64 at the 12 so that is to be expected. the high E is set as low as I can and still bend it up two notes without fretting out.

Update on the Squier. Well I wasn't 100% satisfied with the results of the new neck. I took the guitar to my new tech(very good, and recommended by every pro player here in Vegas). We determined a few things. 1st, the Rosewood on the new neck is real thick and made it sit up much higher then the original. 2nd, the jumbo frets made it even higher still. 3rd, the replacement Schaller Floyd Rose that was installed was not the same as the cheapo original. 4th, the jackazz tech that was my bud and tech for over 15 yrs jacked it all up and did a pee poor job, the set nuts for the rose where not glued and drilled straight in the body. 5th, Warmoth is dead on the money when they say it needs a fret level, dressing and edges rounded.

The end results were.
The guitar will be completely torn down. Body rerouted for the correct Floyd Rose bridge(other issues like string lock bolts would hit body), The set barrel nuts for the FR will be removed, body filled and reinstalled straight. The neck will be setup according to angles and shimmed if needed. The frets will be leveled and dressed, edges rounded.

Cost $250.00

Now the bridge has to be raised considerably. The tech recommended that we just leave it, but he did say he would shave the neck to obtain the original height if I wanted but basically said it would be just fine left alone.

I'm thinking while I'm at this stage, reconfiguring the pickups. Right now its a hss and I have a pickgaurd of hsh. The wood of this axe makes it real warm with a bit of a growl.

Chime in guys and gals... Looking for some feedback. Your choice of pickups. The body is Basswood, the neck is listed above. Right now the PU's are all SD's, bridge PATB III(I beleive its a III, but definetly a Parallel Axis Trembucker), Mid is a Duckbucker and neck is a vintage rails(almost identical pu's. At this moment there is one tone and one volume and a 5 way switch. I only play with everything turned up all the way so no knobs almost sound cool to me.

I don't squable over price of my mods or repairs.... Let me know what you would do.

I agree, it isn't really a repair question, it's a post about the trials and tribulations of getting your guitar repaired.

Yup, over the years, I've learned to fix most everything basic on my guitars. Sometimes you just need to hire a pro to do serious mods.

Anybody have any thoughts on pickups? Oh yeah, I play classic rock and some heavy metal.
