I'm still trying to work out how on earth I could possibly have been seduced into buying a white Telecaster.....some mysterious outside influence, perhaps?

Probably as soon as Vic gets out of his self-mutilation period. ;)
Very nice looking Tele Vic, enjoy it! 8)

Hi,
When you've had a week or two to get really bedded in with the new Fender could you do that comparison you mentioned, please? It would be especially interesting to hear what you have to say about all aspects of your Squier versus the Fender - what's similar, better, different or whatever.
... I'd pretty much made up my mind what I wanted anyway - and that's a 2nd Squier Tele. Darth Ordinary put me on to a guitar shop in Warrington (5 miles away, 10 mins on the train) that has a couple in stock, so I'm going to go and put them through their paces this week. They have the Squier Custom Tele with P90's in two models - Black and Blonde. It'll be interesting to do a comparison between the new one which I'll acquire and the one I already have, in the same way Chris has compared the two SG's.
Then again, guitar shops are like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get!
Very nice chocolates you came home with, that's for sure. 8)
Cheers,
Chris

Definitely - I'm already noticing small, subtle differences. With the Squier I was playing with the neck p/u a lot of the time - with the new Tele, I'm tending to favour the middle position. Haven't actually tried the Squier through the new amp yet.....I will get round to it, I just haven't put the damn Tele down for more than five minutes yet!

I've got a MIM. Love it. Never had it in standard tuning though. Even when I test drove it, I tuned it to G.
That was my intention when I set out - buy a new Squier Tele for open G. However, although the new Tele is beautifully set up - low enough action for chords and lead, but nice for slide as well, even with light strings - I couldn't keep it exclusively for slide. I think the old Squier Tele is going to be in open G now on a permanent basis! The Squier Tele, by the way, definitely has a slightly lower action than the Fender....although I don't know what strings the Fender came with, they FEEL like 9's which is my gauge of choice. I did stock up with quite a few sets of D'Addario 9's - which I haven't been able to get for a while, but I'm not going to replace brand new strings just for the sake of it. I guess I'll just have to play the Tele a LOT to wear the strings out quickly! Oh the sacrifice, the suffering! NOT!

It's getting to the point where we almost have enough tele players to start our section on here
