I don't know how it's wired, but it really does get a nice volume boost in the middle position.

I own a Danelectro, it is about a foot away from me as I write this. I think it has great tone. The only thing I don't like about it is that you cannot adjust the intonation whatsoever, but it is pretty close to begin with.

One of the coolest things about Danos is when you switch to the center position between pickups you get a nice volume boost. Guitar players used to switch to middle position for solos.
