heck I did it and I aint no genious.

you should check out a library or book store for a book on guitar care and maintenence. that's where I learned a few things. I was able to apply them too.
I built a lpa steel. wired and soldered a pickup.
I plugged into a tuner and it actually moved the arrow. :D

then when I plugged it into my amp it really made sounds. I was so pleased I could do it.

learning by doing is great. but there always always is a risk of fking up.

hopefully, the guitar is ruined and anything done is reversable.

alot of repair people roll their eyes at botched home jobs.


pickup wiring is pretty basic.

sounds like you are truly gassin for those Invaders.

I'm with Dogbite. Leave that guitar alone. Plug your new guitar into your new pedal and amp and turn those knobs. You will get that tone you are after without destroying anything.
