The amp you've got it is perfect for all but the heaviest of music, at all volumes. The most important aspect you need to understand about your amp are the various way to control it's volume:

1) Level (at the back): this changes the volume without changing the tone. Turn it down all the way to start with
2) Master: This influences the ammount of valvetronix 'poweramp saturation'
3) Volume: As level, but this gets stored in presets. Use this knob to set the levels of various patches equally.
4) Gain: This controls the ammount of pre-amp gain.

To get yourself going:

1) Grab a nice clean model (4x10 bassman or Tweed would do)
2) Set gain to about 40% (sound will be cut off completely with gain at 0%!)
3) Set level to minimum, at the back of the amp.
4) Set all EQ to mid poisition.
5) Set master to 50% and volume to whatever you want the volume to be.
6) Set the effect to reverb and the FX level to about 25% .
7) Set your guitar pickup switch to #2, tone and volume max.
8) Now start to experiment with the EQ on the amp.

Final tip: your amp responds greatly to picking dynamics and the likes. You might want to set the gain on the amp higher then you'd really want and turn the volume on your guitar down a bit. Now you can 'rip it up' when needed by just raising the volume on your guitar, no need for pedals or any complex setups.

Good luck!

I know I have been clogging the board with many questions but I want to learn as much as I can. As you have read in previous posts I have a Fender Standard Strat Mexican made Satin finish with a Vox Ad30 amp. I live in an apartment and really cannot play at a very high volume. Usually play unplugged or with headphones. Would a set pedals enable me to get a nice clean sound at a low volume? if so which ones?? Or what settings on my amp should I use?? I just started to learn songs from Zeppliin, Floyd, and Dave Matthews. Any input would be great.

Thanking you in advance
