For instance, lets say your main musical interest was acoustic rock, which has become boring and routine, then maybe opting for an elective study would be of interest and use. Try divulging into the world of bluegrass or country blues, no?, maybe flemenco?

Sometimes a brief change is all that is needed to revitalize ones main interest and hobby. After all, you can always take you current body of knowledge and fuse it with what ever elective guitar path you choose and have a new sound and new ideas to toy with.

I bet you could go to your local library and find an interesting guitar book in a style of music new to you or one of lesser interest and rekindle the flame. It'll cost you nothing to. Thats my advice.

Thanks for the advice so far guys. Trust me, I've thought about getting a new guitar numerous times. If I had the money I'd go buy one in a second. Problem is I'm really strapped for cash at the moment. :(

As far as finding something that inspires me to play, I've done it. I've been extremely inspired by jambands as of late (think the likes of Phish, MOE., etc), music that requires a group effort to create the magic. There's just one problem with it....I don't have anyone to play with. I don't know any musicians where I am right now. I'm home from college and in my hometown, I am pretty much the lone guitarist. The only other person I know who can play guitar, bass, or various other instruments (minus horns/percussion) is one of my high school teachers. That pretty much cuts out jamming with people.

Unless someone can give me some solo arrangements of songs in that genre, I don't really know what to do.

Again, thanks for the advice and keep it coming.
