It seemed a bit intimidating when I just glanced over it, but after trying it for a few minutes I would attempt to practice it as he shows in the video. Impressive as it is, sweeping isn't very common, and chances are if you play any style of music with the exception of some metals, you won't need/use sweeping. <br><br>I can't sweep well, but I always haven't been in a situation where I need to. It's entirely up to you if you want to learn it, but you might want to the weigh the pros and cons, such as time spent vs. reward.]]></content:encoded>

Arpeggios like that you can absolutly blaze up and down like crazy with sweep picking and then you link several of em in a row and its very impressive, and sounds interesting because of the fast interval skips.<br>But of course if you wanna play around with the pattern more, rather than just going up and down, then alt' picking is good. And then there are the arpeggios which aren't really intended to be sweep picked...]]></content:encoded>

I think you'll find that sweeping is generally faster and more effiecient, but there's no reason why you can't do it both ways. Especially on a more complex shape such as the E9 you're showing. If you were doing a standard major arp in first inversion, I would say to only sweep it, since you have three strings @ the same fret.<br><br>for ex, C major:<br><br>e------------------------------------3----8------<br>b--------------------------------5---------------<br>g----------------------------5-------------------<br>d------------------------5----------------------<br>a----------3-------7----------------------------<br>e----------------------------------------------<br><br>That's a very "sweepable" shape.]]></content:encoded>

As for any "problems down the road," unless you're in a situation where someone will give you a lot of money to sweep pick, there shouldn't be any. Doesn't mean you might not want to learn them.
