fret buzz could have happened because they did not do a set up (intonation etal).

Maybe I'm stating the obvious and you already know to do that, but I know I paid return shipping on stuff before I knew what a call tag was.

When the reason for the return is faulty/damaged product, there is no reason the buyer should get stuck for the shipping cost, but most companies are happy to let you foot the bill if you don't demand otherwise.
