A standard Tele comes with two single coils. Of course the have the HS and HH versions.

But you can get Strats with humbuckers. My American Strat is HSH. Yeah the HS version I was talking about is a '72 "Tele Custom" reissue. It doesn't take the shape of a tele, but shares its shape with a tele deluxe (an HH tele with this different body).

If I got a strat I wouldn't really want a humbucker though. I'd chose to spend a bit of money in shoving an active (most likely neck?) pick up in. Apparently the TExas Special PUPs are very good on a strat, they come on the one I posted the link to, however it doesn't say if it's a Mexican, but I'd guess it is at that price
I have a Squier Strat but would love both a Tele and a 'proper' Strat! One day maybe?

I do admire some of John and Jimi's Strats, but as you rightly pointed out, it's Thom Yorke's (lead singer and rhythm player for Radiohead) and Jonny Greenwood's (lead guitarist...) telecasters that also interest me.

I like the versatility of strats, but the much praised sound qualities and H/S coil set up of the tele interest me.

Either way, as long as I get the right one it doesn't matter!
