Also good for bass because when you're doing sixteenth note patterns, it's a little difficult to take your picking hand away long enough to adjust the pot on the instrument without it sounding like something dropped out of the song - live, I mean.

I recommend the Ernie Ball pedal.

I got mine because I began playing lap steel and needed one for volume swells and pedal steel tricks.
then it became an essential pedal with my standard rig. it's great when gigging.
