Usually the States are far cheaper when it comes to guitars, so with some luck you might find one for $100. Definitely a few steps up on the Dean. Dean has a few very nice accoustic guitars, but their cheapest ones sound very, very bright and lack quite a bit of bass. On the other hand, they play well and will be more then sufficient to start on, so if you can't find the Ibanez the Dean is a cool gift.

I guess I was just wanting to make sure I wasn't overlooking a slightly better guitar for the money. I've got her a tuner, stand, picks, and lesson books all ready to go. All for around $110. Not bad I suppose.

Does anyone have experience with the guitar in the link above? The reviews said it holds tune fairly well and sounds good for the price. I tend to believe that as I got my son an Epiphone AJ-100 kit for $100 and it surprised me how good it sounds for the money. Holds its tune pretty good too.
