Wouldn't it be a set-neck design??
In that case, you can't unbolt the neck and shim it.

ack! forgot to check that, to used to fenders I guess. if it is a set neck then that makes things a lot more difficult... :?

perhaps it would be possible to machine off a bit from the bottom of the bridge and then swap out the metal height adjust screws for smaller washers... I have no clue if that would work, just a random Idea.

Hi everyone,
I'm working on a 72 SG and I need some input. This is a wonderful instrument but it has really high action and the tune-a-matic bridge has already been completely lowered. When any string is depressed at 1st fret and then at 14th the gap between the string and the fretboard is small and consistent all the way up the neck. The neck doesn't seem warped or twisted in any way, yet it is obvious that it is at a werird angle relative to the body when the guitar is laid flat on its back on a level surface. The neck doesn't appear to have been re-set. The headstock had been repaired at the volute at some point and was nicely done.
What advice do people have regarding:
A) what is causing this situation and
B) what is the best course of action to take in order to pass this instrument along in much nicer playing shape to a customer?
It's a really nice sounding and feeling instrument and I don't want to see it stay this way. Thanks so much for your help.
