Hello, first of all I'm new to this forum. Since playing mainly bass, but also electric guitar is a big part of my life - and also because I've taken up electronics as a new hobby - I thought I'd register here to talk to others about guitar repairs and such.

So: My problem now is that I've got a cheapo Fender Telecaster copy which behaves quite strangely when it comes to the pickup. When playing through an amp, the volume fades downward towards the higher strings, where the low E sounds full and clear, and the low E doesn't make a single sound through the amp at all. The loss of sound begins at the D-string.

From my knowledge of guitars at least, this seems to be a problem with the pickup. It's a single pickup guitar, and I don't know what kind of pickup it is, but it looks kind of like this one: http://www.ocduffpickups.com/pickups/numberone.jpg, but without the visible coil.

Does anyone of you have an idea of what the problem might be? I removed the pickup from the guitar and see no problems with it when it comes to wiring and such. I'd be grateful for any help and I'm not afraid to take anything apart. Thank you!
