you say low end is muffled. I will assume that means not much low end, so the result is very thin and tinny sounding. if so, you've reversed the leads on one of the pups -- or it is reversed intentionally as it's intended for hum canceling with a complementary pup with reverse-magnet/reverse-winding. try this: swap the leads on the single coil -- e.g., if currently black to ground and white to switch, change it to white to ground and black to switch. (only an example, I made up the colors).

yes, if you have a humbucker in the mix, you should consider using 500k ohm pots, though a 250k would not cause loss of low freqs. a lower value pot rolls off high freqs not lows in a typical treble bleed tone circuit.

Hey guys, I just got done wiring a guitar up with 2 pickups ( mini humbucker at the neck and single coil at the bridge). I've also got 1 volume and 1 tone knob and a 3 way switch. First position and the third position sounds great, but the second position (both pickups) loses volume and the low end is muffled. Any idea on what it could be? I've rewired it twice now. I've wired it to the seymour duncan specs and to stewmacs specs and I'm getting the same results. I am using 250k pots, could that be the problem? Thanks guys!
