                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[Intonation depends on matching the fret placement to the vibrating string length, and the vibrating length (also called the "speaking length") isn't exactly the same as the scale (nut to saddle) length.<br><br>Plain G strings tend to have a longer speaking length than wound strings - the actual speaking length depends on tension and string flexibility.  You might want to try out a wound G and see if that helps.]]></content:encoded>
